Introducing Youreka Sketch: Elevate Your Forms with Visual Context
We are excited to unveil Youreka Sketch, a groundbreaking feature that enhances your forms by allowing users to add visual context directly into the form. This new question type introduces a dedicated Sketch Pad where users can draw or annotate, making it easier to provide detailed visual information.
Key Features
Sketch on a Blank Canvas
Users can freely draw on an empty canvas, providing flexibility for various use cases such as diagramming, annotating, or illustrating ideas.
Annotate on an Image
Users can add sketches directly on top of an uploaded image, making it easier to provide visual feedback, mark specific areas, or highlight important details.
Intuitive Interface
The sketching tool is designed to be user-friendly, with simple drawing tools and an easy-to-navigate interface that ensures a smooth experience on mobile devices.
Benefits of Using Youreka Sketch
Enhanced Clarity
Visual representations often convey information more effectively than text alone. With Youreka Sketch, users can provide detailed visual context, reducing ambiguity and improving the accuracy of the data collected.
Streamlined Data Collection
By allowing users to sketch instead of answering multiple textual questions, you simplify the form-filling process and make it more efficient.
Increased Engagement
The interactive nature of sketching can make forms more engaging and enjoyable for users, potentially leading to higher completion rates.
How to Setup
We will first need to make sure that a Sketch Pad question type is added to a Form Template.
- Open an existing form template or create a new one.
- Drag and drop a standard or linked section into your template, name it, then save.
- Select the “Sketch Pad’ option from the top and drag and drop it into your section.
- Now you can begin setting up your Sketch Pad question
- Give your Sketch Pad a label! This label will be shown as the title of the Sketch pad in the form.
- Determine if your Sketch pad will be shown as blank by default or if it should contain a background image. If nothing exists in your image gallery, you will have to upload a file.
- This is where things get fun! Select the Icon Gallery route. You can decide if your form user will have icons to add into the Sketch Pad!
- Upload icons or search for them if they already exist.
- Select which icons will be available for your form users.
- Determine if there is any display logic needed.
- Save your template and publish it once you’re done building it!
How to Use
Before starting, make sure the Advanced Data Collection license has been added to your user profile. Please reach out to the Youreka team to gain access to this additional paid feature for further assistance.
- Ensure that a template has been created and that it contains a sketch pad question type.
- Open up the form in Youreka Mobile.
- Navigate to your Sketch Pad question.
- See that the Sketch Pad question has a title.
- If you are viewing a blank Sketch Pad, all you will see is a blank space with a border. If a background image was provided, you should see an image with a border.
- Click on the Sketch Pad. Now you’re in the Sketch Pad experience!
- You should see three tabs. Draw, Insert, and Text.
- In the draw tab, you’re able to utilize a pencil or highlighter. You can determine the thickness and color of your drawing.
- In the insert tab, you’re able to insert shapes, lines, and icons! Icon availability has been preselected for you by your template builder.
- When selecting a line to insert, you will be able to choose what kind of fill it will have. There are multiple options so get creative!
- In the text tab, you will be able to type into the text box and insert your text directly into the Sketch Pad.
- Before inserting anything into the Sketch Pad, ensure that you’ve determined its attributes prior (i.e. border color, fill color, etc.). Once an item has been inserted, it cannot be edited.
- There are also options to clear all of your edits, undo the last edit, duplicate an item, and zoom!
- To utilize zoom, click on the toggle to enable zoom. Now you can pan and zoom into any area of your Sketch Pad. When you’re ready to get back to sketching, click on the zoom toggle to disable zoom.
We encourage creativity! Now that you know how to use the Sketch Pad feature,, we will let you get to it! Happy Sketching!
Known Issues
- If the Sketch Pad is included in multiple Linked Sections, it only opens in the first linked section
- Edits included in a Sketch Pad are not showing for a completed form in form detail if the form is a single page
- Sketch Pad Images are not showing on imported templates
- On smaller devices, like an iPhone 8, buttons may overlap and text may be cut off
- The Sketch Pad may appear shrunken when viewing it on the main forms page
- If a tooltip is defined for the Sketch Pad question, it is not appearing on the form.
- Required Sketch Pad questions are being validated on Save and Close - Mobile Only
Considerations
- To enhance your Sketch Pad experience, we recommend users utilize this feature on a larger device, such as an iPad.
