Introduction to Prefilled Default Responses
Default answers allow you speed up form completion by prefilling values for standard question types. These values can be defined when building a Form Template. Once a default value is provided, the answer for the question will be automatically populated when a new form is created or when a linked section is added. This capability can be useful to guide the user in the right direction by providing consistent answers for every team member.
Configure Default Responses
Use the following steps to set up prefilled default answers:
- In the Template Builder, add a standard question (not a field link) to your template.
- Locate the Default Answer field and provide a value.
When a form is created from this template, the values of the default answers now automatically populate for each question that they are set for.
Considerations
Default values can be created for the following question types: Text, Email, Phone, Currency, Number, Percent, Long Text, URL, Yes/No, MS Picklist, Checkbox List, Picklist, Date, Date/Time.
The following question types cannot have default values: Attachments, E-signatures, Field Links, Geolocation.
When setting the default answer of a Date or Date/Time question, the value of NOW or Today is populated at creation time of that Form.
Setting a default value for a question does not require the default value to be consistent with the validation rules defined for the question.
Users can create or update a form with Inbound Deeplink Data which will overwrite default values.
